So, aside from cookies, I've had a few chipmunks in the digital oven, and now the trailers are coming out. Usually I always play a trailer that has some of my work in it, but so far I can't find a decent quality of the theatrical trailer on the you-tubes.

Ok, so, I don't mind it so much in an industry when it's directed at someone of the same. That situation merits that all parties involved, through relation in media, can understand the feeling stated when they say "split the difference". (Don't get me started on "S the D")

The area this becomes bothersome to me is cooking. Specifically when cooking seemingly tasty cookies only to find out that I need more knowledge of cooking to complete the task. At room temperature implies that measurement of heat-intensity will be equal to that of which the room you are currently in, and I can't help it if I live in Southern California and my room is (and always will be) hot as what I imagine the temperature of balls to be. (and from what I can gather from any man coming indoors on a hot summer day and complaining about the heat, I imagine that to be rather hot.) If you are referencing a recipe chances are you are not an expert in all things, so what's wrong with just saying "keep at approximately 72 degrees" because for me room temperature is 85 degrees when I first come home, and a steady 80 all night long. Air conditioning seems to be affiliated with the plague in the beach cities, so it is non-existent.

Pinch and a dash have exact measurements too. Don't even get me started on the lack of efficiency for writing down 'smidgen' 1/32 tsp.

Speaking of Tee-Ess-Pee. TBS is a television network; Tbsp is a tablespoon; and Tsp is a teaspoon. Capitalizing the T does not make it a tablespoon, putting a b in it makes it a tablespoon. I shouldn't be forced into confusion over chef interpretation every time I see intermittent capitalization with a lack of a B.

In other news, it's probably no surprise that I have been baking lately. Pictures of tasty confections soon to follow.

It's there for a reason

The head-nod is there for a reason. It's there so you can acknowledge another person without having to open up too much. That's the problem with large office buildings, you get used to seeing the same people all of the time, but you know nothing about them, and then at some random moment, you end up starting a conversation with them as if you've known them for months. This is a good way to build a friendship, however, there is a time and place for this scenario.

The bathroom is not it.

Passing in the hallway, and then suddenly walking into the restroom is a place for a head-nod. There is no reason on earth why you need to tell me your hands smell like soy sauce while you wash them in the sink as I use the facilities.

Just saying.

This is what I feel when I look at the nighthawks painting and all of it's parodies.

Which is sort of the kind of mentality I've been taking to my art lately. If it's not worth looking at, why is it even there.

Which leads into a lack of posts, and an abundance of cupcakes. I've come up to a reasonable artist-block lately, and I'm refraining from posting commissions like I always do. So, if it's not worth looking at, why create it?

BACK IN NOVEMBER!? When I said I'd post some drawings? From my new sketchbook even?
Yeah, that didn't happen.

Here's what did happen:

A new trailer for Hop came out. Guess which shot I worked on.

Really though, enough about me, there are hundreds of extremely talented people working on this movie. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's hard work put together. Are you?

In other news, there was a promise of donuts in my last post, and I got called out on it. I have pics to prove it, but first, a cautionary tale about camera phones.

So, about half a year ago I discovered an issue with my phone where I would suddenly have a severe loss inn memory, only to find I would have a large collection of completely black images in my photo library. My initial reaction was "dang, I took a lot of pictures, and now somehow all the date has become corrupt, and I lost my pictures" So, sadly, I deleted them, thinking I lost vital images I had taken. Just the other day, I encountered this memory problem again trying to take a photo with my double-hinged flip phone. This was the first time I examined the date on the images. They were all from the same time. December 28th, 2010, all around 6:30-7:00 in the morning. Then there were some normal pictures, followed by another batch of completely black images from January 27th, same time, February 3rd, same time, and again from the 15th, all from 7am-7:06. There were at least 200 pictures like this, but it really got me that all these pictures were from the same time in the morning, usually when I would be sleeping, or just getting ready for work. As it turns out, I use my phone as an alarm clock, and it goes off repeatedly in those times, and just a couple weeks ago, I switched it to go off later so I could get more sleep. Incidentally, there's a bit of a touch function on the front of the phone, which somehow activates the camera.
In case you haven't seen where this is going already, what goes on is that, everyday, when my alarm goes off, I grab it, in my sleep and cuddle it like a teddy-bear so that I silence the sound and can keep shutting it off when the snooze function kicks in. The end result is that somehow, in my waking moments, I take like 30-50 pictures of the underside of my pillow, blanket, or just on top of my sheets, every morning.
Needless to say, I discovered how to lock my touch-buttons on the front of my phone this weekend.
Also, I gave my friends donuts.

It's August... and the middle of it at that!

I just did my last game at fedex field. I'm in Maryland to watch my best friend get hitched, and to find a replacement at the Redskins, and to do a bunch of stupid-awesome adventures with my comrades out here on the East side.

In other news, I wrapped up an apprenticeship at a post production company out in California, and unlocked the 'employment' achievement.

I'm drawing a bunch of crazy awesome things lately too. I took some cool pictures of fish recently. I'm on vacation.

Just thought I'd throw another imageless update on the internet.

Buenas Noches guys and gals!

Been a while since I posted here, and I reek of new things. Can you smell it? It's the smell of employment. Some call it the stench of victory, some say the "oder of defeat", but I call it money in my pocket. That's what it's about, dudes and ladies. Incidentally, that also explains why my artcast stopped being a scheduled thing, and is now a more random thing. (If you are on twitter, 'artcast' is spelled with a hashtag{#} in the beginning.) Anyway, I've got a few things on the line up for broadcasting. Let me tell you what they are.

I'm currently working on another digital painting. It's very football themed, and I wouldn't recommend letting the younger kiddies see it. It's just not very sportsmen-like conduct depicted in the imagery. Speaking of digital paintings, I drew another Harley. The following is a portion of that picture!

I cheated on the background a bit and used photoshop filters on some pictures I took somewhere in the middle of the country. But I think I got a pretty good human like-ness on this one. (Actually, I keep forgetting to ask if I can post the painting, so I just took out any identifiable features for now.)

Also on the line-up, a sculpture! No surprises this time around, I'll let you know what the theme is up front! It's a pig in a skirt! Mr. Piggy-pants is going to be based off of the design of some cartoon girl's alarm clock as seen in the first episode of a Japanese Animation based off of a 'manga' that I believe was released in 1995, but I could be absolutely wrong. Regardless of the correctness of the "facts" I stated are correct or not, I will GIVE my hula-pig to the first person that can guess the show. The winner will be determined by the time stamp on how I hear about the guess. If no one guesses (which is the outcome I'm predicting), then I keep it and figure out what to do with it.

Just in-case someone is actually set on winning a pig, one guess per person, per day. Tell me your guess anyway you want, leave a comment, skype, aim, email, an actual letter with a stamp, the artcast chat, whatever. Winner is the first correct guess I see.

It's early in the morning on this fine Tuesday, but I can tell already that there is not going to be a post containing any scans of artwork or photos alike today. As my friend says, I've contracted some sort of plauge, dear readers. Hopefully by Thursday, I'll upload that Jack Nicholson sketch I did for last weeks artcast, mainly due to the intention of coloring it for this weeks artcast.

Anyway, I just took some medication and then accidentally launged a computer speaker at my already "ache"-bearing head. So I plan on sitting the rest of the day out.

My 'show' just got added to the artcast network, so I changed the link to direct there. It's still broadcasting from ustream with the chat and everything, however I suggested you view it from the artcast network, as all of the random links that pop up will 'hopefully' be related to more artwork.

Like usual, I have a lot going on this week. But I'm working on whatever it is I'm going to broadcast on Thursday. Last time was a little more improve than I had intended. I've got a couple of digital paintings I'm working on, so I might just blur out the commissioner's faces and let you guys watch me play in photoshop.

Anonymous communication has been a popular online trend for a couple of years now. After omegle came into play (random-stranger-chat), I should have expected that a web cam version of the same thing would come about. I spent a decent portion of today's artcast drawing complete strangers on chat roulette, and perfect strangers watched me draw them in excitement. It gave me the feeling of working at the amusement park again, except I wasn't getting paid, and I wasn't drawing people in their bathing suits (depending on your definition of the word bathing suit). I offer you a warning when approaching chat roulette, as with all internet anonymity, there are a lot of creepers. I mean, a lot. I lucked out during the artcast, and just got a couple 'bro's' acting "too cool" for the internet, and some average people too. However, as soon as I went off-air, there was a furious display of human anatomy that some would pay for in the back room of a shady movie/comic store.

With that challenging adventure being over, I offer you, my dedicated viewers, 3 of my favorite drawings out of the experience.

... for something! I haven't had a chance to actually "watch" the olympics (except for curling.. that was playing on my flight in to D.C. and honestly, who understands how curling works anyway?) In the race to see who has the most medals of one color, (or medals in general) the U.S. is winning, however, we've got the most Silver medals. Canada is totally rockin' the Gold right now, eh.

Sorry, but, no artwork this week. I'm 'out of town', in the sense that my car and computer are in Los Angeles, and I am in D.C. again with some family. I scored a sweet speed racer lamp last night with the assistance of my comrades at the Dave and Busters in Arundel Mills. Does that make up for a lack of artwork in this weeks post? It's up to YOU to decide.

The art-cast may or may not be delayed. I'm still planing on airing next Thursday, however, my computer's got a nasty cold, and is too shy to go on the internet right now. I might have to delay the art-cast, AGAIN.

In other news, THIS SUNDAY, for all of you Marylanders, Virginia-ers, and people of the District, over in Silver Spring, MD. there will be a screening for the television pilot "Hard to be Me". I did some work on it, and you will be able to see me, the cast, and crew at the screening. It's 10 bucks for a ticket, and you can get some more information at their site here. I hope you enjoy it!

So I did a little bit of painting today. I've got some plans for the weekend and I wanted to get a post out before then. As I said before, I wanted to try something different with some digital painting and work on a caricature of James May. He's got a very distinct way of laughing, and every time I watch Top Gear, I end up wanting to draw him.

I am astonished that I went this long without the cheat code for contra. People have this cheat code on their shirts, and I always thought it was for mortal kombat, or mario kart or something like that.

Now, on a completely different note, it's nearing the end of 2009, and I figured this would be a perfect time to do a sketchbook-dump, right here. Also, because I'm going to be moving on Tuesday via car across the country, and then I'll be moving in to my new home in Los Angeles; and I don't think I'll be able to post anything too promptly for the new year. However, that being said, I intend on updating more often than once every two weeks. It would be ideal to have something new every week, so once I get my "team" (the computers) set up again, I'll have more exciting things to show. I'll probably start doing some tutorials too if anyone's interested. Click on one of the thumbnails below to see the full picture.

That last one of James May (top gear) is one of my favorite sketches. I plan on doing a detailed digital caricature of all three hosts sometime in 2010. Please look forward to it.

Season's Greetings blogernauts!

I've decided, in the spirit of the holidays, that I would make a printable Christmas Card free for download. In case any of you last-minute shoppers have not sent any cards yet, you can click the image below to open (or right click to download) the 8.5X11 inch jpeg, and then simply print.

Try to set up your printer to print all the way to the edge. Also, if you can, load your printer with some fancy paper of your choosing (if you happen to have some). I was too lazy to make my printer print to the edge, and I had to trim down my card, but that works too.

Make sure to fold the paper in half before doing any trimming or writing, or mailing.

The inside of the card is blank, unless you are printing on used paper. So, word of advice, load your printer with paper that is blank on BOTH sides.

On an unrelated note, Just what day of Christmas is it anyway? I was under the belief that the "12th day of Christmas" was on Christmas. But now I'm being told (by unnamed parties) that the "12th day" is actually on Christmas Eve. Then there's my buddy telling me "it's January 5th", but that's beside the point. According to Wikipedia, my buddy is right, but a lot of people celebrate the build-up to the holiday.

Anyway, I've got my own countdown going. 12 days of "until I move to California". Starts today.

Hey there fellow Bloggernauts!

So, it seems to have been a while since Thanksgiving, and I sadly have nothing to show you. I'm still trying to come up with an awesome design for the blog, however I did just finish up a whole basket full of work for various projects, just in time for another truck-load of commissions. Due to the nature of the holiday season, it seems that everyone is rushing to get things finished by then. In addition to the rushed atmosphere of it all, because just about everything is a gift, or has me under contract, I can't post anything.

In other news, my camera came in, I took a bunch of fancy pictures of my cats, and even more pictures of a blurry squirrel outside.

Oh! I also went to my first Hockey game tonight! Caps won, YAY! I've also got a lot of exploring of the Maryland/Virginia/D.C. area to do in the next week, because the week after that is family time-season, followed by the "big move." I'll bring my fancy camera around for Maryland tomorrow, DC on Sunday, and Annapolis on Tuesday. If I actually take decent pictures, expect to see some in the upcoming week.

So, I'm out to get some work done.

Spending the day with family, eating stuffing. Stuffing is my favorite part of Thanksgiving. I didn't watch the parade this morning, because, unlike every year (where I sleep well beyond it's ending), I was watching the glorious finally of Desert Bus. Child's Play is a fantastic charity, and if you missed your chance to donate via the Desert Bus: Worst video game ever marathon, you can still check it out and give for the children this holiday season here.

The Sketch-a-blog next door has a special theme this week. I liked how my piece came out, so I'm sharing it with you guys too.

Way back when, in my high school days, back when almost everything I liked wasn't cool yet, a few of my friends (and myself) would get together and talk about this comic idea with the four of us as the main (super hero) characters. We made the youngest of the four of us the main character/leader, because we figured that was a pretty common thing to do in cartoons and power rangers and stuff. I had started drawing out the comic, and I think got about six pages in before I completely gave up.

After graduation, we all went our separate ways all over the east coast. Not a single one of us lived in the same state anymore. However, it seems like we've been reuniting here and there, and I thought "hey! why don't I make one issue of the comic" 'for old times sake.'

So, it's a fancy idea, however, it's very likely that I would give up again long before it's ever finished. I sketched out a couple frames for you 'dedicated viewers' to see. (all one of you) It's pretty rough, which is how I intend to keep it, sort of... The marker I was using (prismacolor chisel tip) dried out, so I had to stop doodling, and I don't think I'm going for the "dried out marker" effect as much as a "I'm too lazy to spend a lot of time on this" effect. Still not sure if I want this in color or not. I'm playing around with the idea different styles.

I'll go ahead and post more as I see fit, if I ever see fit to make more.

In more awesome news, I'm making thumbnails now. Now you won't have to sit around waiting for 15 1000x1000 pixel jpegs to load on my blog every time you open up a new page!

There seems to be a good deal of down-time between now and the next home game at FedEx Field. I'll try and get some more awesome stuff up between now and then.

Now my cat is getting jealous that I'm spending more attention to my laptop than to him, plus I have to get my equipment ready for tomorrows game (Fedex Field).

A small thing

OK, ok, ok. It's beyond 2 weeks, but I was a bit under the weather this week. I really don't even know why I give myself deadlines anymore, I never follow them.

So, my kid-sister turned 21 last week! Congratulations to her, glad she made it. I threw her a tiny party to mark the celebration. Among her gifts, there was a small jewelry box with a tiny envelope inside.

The envelope of course had a tiny letter inside, that turned out to be an invitation from the mayor of a very tiny town to a party inside of her mail box. Though I wrote the contents of the letter, I actually did not create it. I ordered it from Leafcutter Designs, I've provided you with a link here.

Out to the street we went, to open the mailbox where the party was held! When she opened the mail box, it immediately started singing the "happy birthday" tune. For this, I basically bought one of those singing birthday cards, and taped the speaker to the mailbox door, and the trigger to the 'floor' of the mailbox.

Inside was a small party, of course. My camera wasn't charged, so I used my phone to take pictures. A lot of details were accidentally omitted. I used glow-stick bracelets taped to the inside to illuminated the 'party', and tiny ribbons as streamers. As you can see, I've used the bottom half of a glittery pill-box for the 'table' and small fuzzy bears with "paper hats" glued to their heads as party-attendees. The banquet are actually phone-charms created at Roscata's shop. I swear, this is one of the most talented tiny-sculptors I've ever seen. Not seen in this picture but also purchased from the shop was a green balloon dog, a snow cone, and a flying toaster, all were fabulous! Please check her shop out here.

All in all, I'd say it was a successful party. Probably not as successful as the laptop our parents got her, but hey, who can beat a new laptop? :D

I'm going to be dressed up as Super-girl and you can see me 'flying' over Northern VA, and parts of Maryland all day. (when I say flying, I mean, driving in my car.... at the appropriate speed limit.)

12 minutes late

You know, I just don't know where my time even goes anymore. To be in a position where the workload is so immense that I can't even keep with a simple 2 week posting quota feels good. The fact that none shall see the efforts of my work, feels... different. Secrets and deadlines...that's what it's all about lately. After October is over, I should have a lot more stuff to show, there are just a couple of events that need to pass before I can show any of it.

I am truly not THAT busy. I have certainly spent a large amount of time in the last few days doing experiments in causing other people to yawn. I'll explain the details of yawning, how it sounds, how your breathing is when you yawn, how you will stretch your jaw and your arms. After a yawn, you get a brief refreshed feeling, which is unfortunately usually followed by an additional yawn (at least with me it's like that.) I've talked about how I want to make video of close up shots of different people's faces while they yawn in slow-motion to music with an aggressive beat. Yup, lots of yawns as a result.

Anyway, this is an art blog, so I've dug up some old stuff, some promised stuff, AND, some repetitious stuff. Enjoy. (as a side note, you can do the click and view thing on this one)

So my dad has been shamelessly promoting his digital bike painting I did like two years ago to everyone he knows. This is his old harley. It doesn't look like this anymore... it lacks the grass patches, skid marks, and the missing windshield. He has a new one, and it's a fancy shade of brown on top of more brown that glistens in the sun light. It's as if the bike were made out of rootbeer. Anyway, the image lacks the sophistication of precise line-work that I had wanted out of it, but I was also in a rush to finish it up and try and buff up an interview I was having later in the day.

And this is what I do at my buddy's house at 2 am in the morning. Originally intended to cover my sony e-reader cover, now is just an interesting bit of line work? The empty space was left available for a trail of rainbow stars. I have actually colored the whole thing, and finished it weeks ago, but when it came down to it, I just wasn't happy with it. So here is the black and white instead! It's still meant for color.

Well, I can nearly promise not to post anything more about this one anymore. It's the final version of the line work, now you can see everything all flat and crispy. Don't really need to say more about that.

Anyway, I know some of you actually read this blog, but none of you comment here. You do comment, I'll give you that. Anyway, I'd like to know if anyone yawned during the viewing of this post. Please leave a comment below, not in my inbox or messenger.

Another day, another late post

Did I pass my two week quota for posts? Oh well, I'm posting now!
There are a bunch of little projects I'm on that for one reason or another, I can't really bring up right now on my all access pass to the Internet. I learned that surprises will really be a surprise if you leave your bubble-wrapped comments off-line until the event occurs. With that being said, I still have no legitimate excuse for why I took so long to bring THIS to your attention:

Soaps Available at The Game Crafter BETA

It is the card game called Soaps. There are 58 pieces of artwork put together by yours truly in this game, and I'm not going to show you any of them. :D Mostly because the game is for sale, and I'm encouraging people to purchase it. Now, I only did the artwork for the game. The witty writing and game play was all put together by Danny Goodisman. I played the game, and enjoyed it.

Mr. Clean is a frakin' Genius

In order to apply the 're-done' cover for my Nintendo DS, I had to remove the old one.... and the rainbow-star stickers I had on before that. Adhesive is a rather tricky thing...

I could have just put the new label on-top of the old label... like I did previously with the cheap star stickers, but anything worth doing is worth doing right. So, after about half an hour of using my thumbnail as adhesive remover, I switched to a more powerful force. Mr. Clean and his magic eraser! This stuff really is magic. When you open the box, doves and confetti fly out, and then when you reach in the box for an eraser, out pops a rabbit! Anyway, the sandpapery-fibers of the white sponge did the trick.

I took more pictures of the process I used to complete this, and they will be available if enough people want to know, but otherwise, the images are just for my personal records. A.K.A. I'm lazy. Anyway, the end result is in, I've added a bit more color, changed the sizing of the label, less is cut off, and more of the DS is covered.

Now I can get back to playing my favorite game, Pipe Mania!

Oh, and I guess I should post a preview of things to come...

taking over the airwaves

There is a pretty awesome program going on right now at select radio stations, where all of the unemployed listeners can enter to win a chance for a few seconds of air time. The spot is designated for shouting out your plea for employment in your respective industry. Yours truly has been one of those unfortunate jobless-beings since I graduated from College in '08.

I went to the station yesterday to record my little blurp, and it was pretty cool. The station is decked out just as I imagined it would look like, with stickers, posters, and autographed instruments plastered everywhere. Hopefully, some nice opportunities will turn out from this for myself, and the other participants in our little jobless world.

My blurp's gonna air on D.C.101, and Hot 99.5, along with a potential airing on other local Washington D.C. stations based on availability of time. However, if you don't find yourself trapped in the afternoon rush hour around the capital beltway; forced to tolerate the sudden outbreak in crazy drivers; you can hear the Hot 99.5 version right here.

bored at work

Lets take a moment and dwell into my world a little bit. My 'paying' job is at a desk, picking up phones all day. Sometimes I make some copies, sometimes I fix a computer, sometimes I send a fax. However, most of the time I'm really just looking at the inanimate objects on my desk, while moving as slowly as possible in my chair to make it squeak as long as it can. Seriously, that chair needs some WD-40 stat!

Anyway, I did this today. Got bored, thought it was fun.

hmmmmm... First blog post on the new blog.

Nobody ever puts anything interesting here. Lets see if I can change that.

I'm slammed with a lot of work this week, but needed to take a breather and do something personal. So I've decided to start decorating my Nintendo DS.

Here's a little taste of what I'm up to with it so far. I took the photo with my phone on account that my camera (or charger) may have expired. Anyway, the cover is far from finished, and the matter of applying it to the surface started of on the wrong foot (too much got cut off). There will be more about this later.
